Day 22 - Sun - 11/23/2025 - At Sea to Bermuda - Day 1
We're now on the last major leg on the homestretch of this voyage back to the USA and docking at Port Canaveral. The seas have been relatively flat, the onboard content excellent, way too much food to eat, and great times spent with friends. The one bummer is that a day or so ago, someone stole part of our door decoration. It wasn't an expensive item, it's just the principle of the action.
As I ponder the activity level of this segment of the cruise, I have come to the conclusion that it's been the best of the last two months (two separate trans Atlantic voyages). The number of enrichment lectures have substantially increased over the previous cruise, and even the level of entertainment is sharply better. The cruise line has to be making a lot of money as we are sailing completely full which for the crossing equates to around $20,000,000 in gross revenues assuming 3600 passengers at an average fare of $5,000 each (not including onboard purchases). I don't know if that is a realistic number, but I suspect it is low.
Well, back to our day on board. Today was Sunday and we made the special effort to get up early enough to be able to attend the interdenominational church service in Princess Live. It was very well attended. A former missionary to Indonesia preached after we sang only one song. When he was completed with his sermon, he couldn't get the internet provided music to work, so I suggested that we sing the doxology a-cappella. It sounded wonderful as most everyone knew the song.
I was able to catch about one half of the technical presentation by a member of the engineering staff. He showed slides that we had seen previously on other cruises, and I think I could have given the lecture and spoken with more conviction about the issues he covered and were asked about. But it's above my pay grade, so I kept silent. William Kramer continued his enrichment series on Space topics with a presentation: Is there life beyond earth? My conclusion from his talk is probably not although there were some tantalizing bits. We then took in an Art seminar in Princess Live on The Surreal World of Salvador Dali. It was really interesting and engaging and there was no effort made to directly sell us anything.
We took a short break for lunch before returning to the Princess Theater for Veni, Destination Specialist, gave a high level but interesting presentation on Why I love AI (Artificial Intelligence). Angela had her pop choir rehearsal and I relaxed the rest of the afternoon. I even skipped the Navigation at sea presentation as we've seen it 3 times in the last two months.
A colorful sunset in the North Atlantic
After a light dinner in the LIDO Marketplace, we attended the evening Showtime: The Womacks: Living the Dream. They are two singers (now married) that met on a cruise ship at the beginning of the pandemic. They fell in love. She fell out of love. He won her back and they've now been married for a year and perusing their dream. They are excellent singers and entertainers, and I think they are among the best we ever seen. Not only do they sing, but they share their story interspersed with songs. It comes across as authentic and real. Like every evening show, the 7:30pm show was a full house. I then went to an Eagles Tribute set by Mockingbird while Angela went to the second session of the Voice of the Ocean tryouts. We met back up to watch the Love Songs trivia game before we wrapped up our public evening in the late karaoke time. And no, I didn't sing.
Tonight we gain another hour. There are at least 3 more time changes yet to come.
