Day 20 - Fri - 11/21/2025 - At Sea to Ponta Delgada - Day 2
As we continued our westward voyage, we allowed ourselves to be awakened by the daylight which means a wake up time of around 8:30am. After breakfast, Veni, our destination specialist, gave a great presentation on Ponta Delgada. We've been there several times and are quite familiar with the island as well as the city. It's still interesting to gain someone else's perspective. Afterwards, the Food & Beverage team was interviewed by Matt as a continuing part of the Behind the Seas series of presentations. They spent a lot of time talking about the loading issues in VIGO and also they compared 7 days of drinking on this segment with 7 days on the previous segment. In all cases, the previous segment, composed of largely Brits, drank TWICE as much as the current segment.
Following lunch we returned to the Princess Theater for another enrichment lecture by William Kramer on Looking for Life in Strange Places. He's a great lecturer who speaks without notes and has interesting slides. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and updating my blog. While doing that I received a knock at the door and a crew member delivered a little Princess duck as a prize for a join of the day submission.
Dinner was once again the LIDO World Marketplace before I attended the Variety Showtime featuring the Voice Boys & Mark Walker. Both were good. Angela had something else going on and went to the late show. We then met up in the Princess Live venue for the first round of the Voice of Ocean Auditions. There were some really really good singers vying for a spot. After staying for the Move/TV trivia season, we stayed up for late karaoke. This was my first time to stay up for it, and some of the singers were quite good.
Tonight we're rolling back the clock by one hour. Tomorrow we'll be in Ponta Delgado, Azores Islands. We were here last year for two days and got to tour the island and explore the parks and downtown area. Plus we've been here a few times previously over the years as this is a frequent stopover point for trans Atlantic crossings. We think we'll try to visit 3 key museums.
